About Blue Scar Productions
Blue Scar in First Life
Blue Scar Productions has been a functioning entity since early 2004, and has been an active member of the New Zealand illustration scene since shortly thereafter. We’re well into building our name as a group of individuals unflinchingly driving for the top of our game, and we’re planning to take as many kiwis with us on the way up as we can.
Who are we? We publish comics. But not just any old comics, oh no. We publish comics by the best previously unsigned young New Zealanders that we can find. We’re run by New Zealanders, for EVERYONE – and we’re already turning our eye towards the Australasian market. From there, it’s just a few more steps to take New Zealand’s best graphic novels to the rest of the world!
That’s right, graphic novels, because we’re not just about the funny pages – though, we’ve got nothing against them. But we know that not everyone can be a Charles Schulz or a Murray Ball. We’re open minded, and we’re working our way into a market that’s potentially even bigger than pure comedy – the many, many worlds of fantasy, science fiction and even cyberpunk. We want to see everything great that our fair Aotearoa has to offer reach readers and fans across the world.
With fans up and down the country eagerly awaiting the fourth issue of our first comic book series (“Tour Girls In The 23rd Century”), a science-fiction comedy set in a futuristic rendition of good old New Zealand, we’re turning our gaze towards the new and promising opportunities presented by publishing in colour. In October, 2005, we released the preview issues of our two new graphic novels, which received universal praise from peers, fans, and the general public alike. The announcement that we’re planning to release both series in full colour by the end of 2006 was met with such enthusiasm that we have to do it – now it’s just a matter of how!
“The Gyrath’s Gate Chronicles” (or GGC for short) is a sci-fi tale set in a world that could very well be ours, focused around the adventures of a young woman without a real name in her search for her identity… and to find out why the strange men following her will go to any lengths to capture her.
We also publish the ongoing black and white New Zealand Standard comic series, “Tour Girls In The 23rd Century“.

Blue Scar in Second Life
Since early 2007, BSP started clawing its way into the new, vast online world of Second Life. With several syndicate stores on top of our main store, Blue Scar has begun releasing all of our RL comics into Second Life, starting with Tour Girls In The 23rd Century #1 and The Gyrath’s Gate Chroncles #0. Both books are identical to the RL books and are fully readable in game, saving the reader on all the messy postage costs of RL books. Be sure to stop by and pick up the comics – you wont be disappointed!
