The origins of this look are lengthy and strange, I’m not afraid to admit.  It started with the review pack of skins I had to outfit, and trying to find hair for them. Screw it, let’s just leave it at SOMETIMES SCARBIE LIKES TO WEAR ENTIRELY TOO MUCH HOT PINK.  And suddenly I found myself looking very Alias, very Bond Girl, very dangerous and SMEXY.  Throw in this slinky little black number from Adam n Eve, the new Amelia choker from Ryker Beck’s Genesis, and a mysteryious, inexplicable gym bag that could contain just about everything, and you’ve got a look that’s just to die for…

Now, what the post is really about: the skins!  As anyone that reads my posts knows, I am a skin-whore – no, no, what was it?  An expensive, high-class skin-callgirl.  I love skins, but I’m also very picky.  Hence why I love it when I stumble across a new skin store to love on, because while Tuli will ever be the love of my life, and SLink is my sexy new mistress, I love to have a full and diverse skin-lovelife.  Also, whoever can identify the quote from a famous author I mangled in the previous sentence gets a cookie.  God, I’m a nerd! ;D

Anyway, moving on!  I had a short but rocky love-affair with Redgrave skins. Some of them I love, some of them I hate.  In particular, I’ve been turned off by the bodies on the Redgrave skins, which generally look too ‘greasy’ and skeletal for my tastes.  Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing bad about that, it’s just not something I like to wear myself.  On the other hand, I generally love the faces.  My torrid affair climaxed with my purchasing one of the Miu skins and struggling to work up the willpower to take it off for about a week.  But shortly after my first Friday Fabulosity post, I finally couldn’t stand the body anymore and fled back to the loving embrace of my other mistresses.

More Late-Night Boot Finds (Plus a teaser!)

I swear by all things holy, good and fabulous,  the best boots are released by tiny, relatively unknown designers in the dead of the night.  Last week we had Biddle Boots, and this week we have EvA Footware.  Last night, while I was indulging my OCD and sorting my inventory (again), a notice popped through from FashCon.  Just like last time, I wasn’t expecting much, but I’ve learnt to trust my instincts and my instincts said ‘one little peek…’

I’ll tell you what, boy am I glad I trusted my gut on this one, because these boots are gorgeous.  Though they weigh in at almost a thousand L for the pair, the money buys you not one pair of boots but over a dozen.  The books come with five colour change options per pack (and there’s three different packs) for the main body of the boot, seven options for the sole, and a whole BUNCH of options for the sole trim.  Plus, on top of the usual sexywalk, bling, and heelclick options that nobody in their right mind actually uses, the boots include five AO poses.  I mean, they’re not GOOD AO poses, but who cares because you can turn them off and still have gorgeous sculpted boots.  And there’s one huge selling point left to mention.

The boots are flawless from top to bottom.  That’s right, there’s no ugly join at the ankle.  In fact, there’s only one visible attachment per leg, on your calf.  The foot attachment is ONLY an invisible prim to hide your foot.  When I saw it mentioned in the advertising notecard, my first thought was, “That can’t possibly work!  It’s so brilliantly simple, that if it could, surely someone would have done it before!”

Cleverly, Van Stantz (EvA Footware) included demo boots in the notecard, so I could indulge my curiousity without leaving my skybox.  I sat there for about ten minutes, staring intently at my feet as my AO cycled, waiting for them to break.  My AO, you see, is the inevitable breaker of boots and bane of bootmakers everywhere.  Damen (of Adam n Eve) has told me so enough times!  But… no!  Sitting, standing, walking on my hands, the damn boots resisted every attempt to break them!  I know, as impossible as it seems, I finally… finally found boots invulnerable to my AO of Mighty Bootbreaking +5!

And they are beautiful for it.  Eight lovingly crafted sculpted prims per boot, flawless at the ankle like no other boots I’ve found.  There’s gotta be a down side, right?  Well, there is.  The invisible prim on your foot is pretty sizeable, which means some manipulation for photos at some angles, but it’s not a major problem and easily fixed.  For how flawless these boots look in day-to-day wear, it’s a small price to pay.   They’re well worth it.

A new release from Scarlia Inc… hey, wait a second, that’s US! That’s right, A.D. Studios (my store) has finally begun rebranding for the merger with The Whitfield Gallery to become Scarlia Inc.  It’s a transition that’s been in the works for almost six months now. Well, anyway – Alia got a sudden burst of creativity recently, and has churned out 64 SEXY new eyes. I might be a little biased, but I haven’t taken them off since she sent them to me.  They’re just that good.

There’s also two free sets available – the Amethyst set in store, and a pair of pumpkin orange ones in our subscribe-o-matic.  We give our freebies to the group allll the time, so I recommend joining it.  Everyone loves freebies, right?

Scarbie is a total eye-fiend.  I own hundreds of eyes.  And up until now, it was hard to pry my Miriels out of my skull, but I’m so in love with the new Scarlia eyes that I’ve finally had to lay the Caribbean Eyes aside in favour of my new favourites, the Monochrome Eyes – Amulet 3.  Those are the sexy green ones in the first photo below!

I’ve been hearing about Chardonnay for a while, and picked up a free skin from there a while ago.  Now, I’m in the subscribe-o-matic, because… well, no reason NOT to be, right?!  And when a notice came through a few hours ago about an overnight sale running until 7AM tomorrow, how could I say no?  If there’s three things Scarbie loves, it’s sales, skins, and free things.

The Jewelry Expo In Retrospect – Part I

Well, I believe the Expo is over, and it was sadly far too short considering how broke Scarbie is these days.  But she managed to find enough money to walk away feeling good, even if she didn’t manage to invest in all the things she wanted to.  One of the side-effects of crippling poverty!  Anyway, I figured I’d show you lovelies some of my favourite pieces picked up this year, because you can still visit MAIN stores, after all.

This year’s Exposition was fantastic, I’m thrilled to say, even better than last year.  A big well-done to Miriel and her crew, they did a fantastic job.  I was there for more than four hours before I experienced any lag at all, even with 30+ people in the sim.  The layout was easy to navigate and easy on the eyes.  Frankly, if Hair Fair had been run the same way, I’d probably have enjoyed it a lot more.  The booths were even in alphabetical order.  Plus (and this is very important), there was a very high ratio of gorgeous jewels to balance out the inevitable booth or two of blingtardwear.  I suppose there’s nothing wrong with blingtardwear, but there’s nothing right, either.  You know the kind I mean.  Huge, gaudy diamonds all out the wazooey, enormous bling flashes, or even… even so much bling on the product pictures themselves that you can’t see what the jewellery looks like!  Kind of a no-no, just as a head’s up to any potential jewellery designers out there.

Anyway, there was very little of that, and lots of the good stuff, so let’s get started with my favourites.  Some of these pictures I had to borrow from the creator’s blogs, because I ran out of money and… well, they look better than my photos anyway. :D

Gorgeous things from Siyu of Illusions. Always so many gorgeous things. Oh god, it hurts and stings. So much pretty. I got a sneak peak at these when I bumped into her while hair shopping the other day, and they are breathtaking in person.

The lovely Ryker Beck is FINALLY back on the scene, with her beautiful collection of jewels under the name Genesis. I want everything, and if you're anything like me and a klepto for pretty things, you will too!

It's been a long time since I visited OPIUM Everyday. Last time I was there, they didn't really HAVE much. But I'm telling you, they released the CUTEST stuff for the Jewellery Expo, and it's so cheap! This is the Marina earrings and necklace in white, and it only set me back about $200L for both. Their store is right behind my satellite at Le Zoo, so go check them out!

OMG, Tuli's new Meredith skins have a butt-freckle, that's so cute! ...and totally off-topic! This adorable sparkly bangle set is by Dark Mouse Jewelry. Mouse is a sweet-heart, and a talented one at that; these bangles are to die for! They include earrings too, which aren't shown, but are equally fabulous.

It's not really a secret that Scarbie has a fetish for cameos and skullies. Chalk it up to my inner goth girl (I blame her for a lot >_>) but the adorable Glitterati set from Violet Voltaire totally justifies me in that love. AND the cameos on the earrings and necklace are both texture change, with four options! What's NOT to love?! Nothing, that's what!

This gorgeous piece is from EarthStones, the Sylvan Hip Belt in Silver/Abalone. They had so much gorgeous stuff at the Expo that if I hadn't been on a budget of only $2k (*Cry*) that I'd have bought every last thing!

I was lucky enough to catch this beautiful set on discount at Yabusaka's booth, and it is incredible. VERY primmy, though. I lagged out just putting it on, but it's so pretty. The set racks up a whopping 749 prims altogether, and most of it appears to be sculpties. But still, gorgeous!

Two beautiful necklaces from Studio Sidhe, something a little more earthy than the usual fair. I love the light touch of glow on the crystal pendant, so pretty. And yes, they're two separate necklaces, I reattached them for the picture. XD

And of course, we can't forget the show's organiser, the lovely Miriel! Her delicate, simple and elegant jewellery comes in a bazillion options, and is so cheap you can afford to indulge in lots!

Scarbie!

New Adam n Eve Pumps!

I adore the British.  Only they can get away with using words like ’strumpet’ in a sentence without coming out sounding like a dork.  But naming shoe colours that?  Hmmm… you know what I think I’ll let them do that, too!  The new pumps from Adam n Eve are chunky, a little bit old fashioned, but perfect for that outfit where you want comfortable heels that don’t look like they’ll snap if you put on a pound or two.  They’re the perfect accessory for an outfit where you don’t want your shoes stealing the show, unlike one of their previous posts, the glorious Babii Pumps which you can build an entire outfit around and they’ll still be the centre of attention.  But hey, with colour names like Fjord and Strumpet, who couldn’t administer some love on the Alicia pumps?!

And hey, they’re half price for the next few days!  Woooo!

Biddle Boots – Cute name, cuter boots!

You know how it is with FashCon. Notices popping up at all hours of the night, while you’re right in the middle of something, and you take a cursory glance before clicking them away. It’s sad but true, and something we all do. Lucky for me, while I was preparing last night’s post I took an extra moment to read a notecard that came up on from a little place called Biddle Boots. I wasn’t expecting much, since I’m super-picky about boots at the best of times and in the middle of the night I’m just plain crabby. So imagine my surprise when I opened the pictures, and immediately fell in love with the tiny pink ankle boots contained within.

I have a Thing for pink. I’m not afraid to admit it. For many years I denied it. I didn’t even like Barbies growing up. Well, I’ve come to think of pink as red’s sexy younger sister, and that works just fine for me. That picture seduced me with its siren song, and dragged me kicking and screaming right down to their newly-reopened main store to check out what wares they had on sale. At first I was surprised, so pretty but so few. There’s only three types of boot – one knee, two ankle – available in only four colours each, but the colours themselves were gorgeous. From the smooth, saucy blacks to the sultry reds, every colour has its own special personality. To quote Alia, “That electric blue color makes me want to rub these boots on my dirty parts.” I bet she will too, filthy pervert that she is. This is why I wont share my clothes with her!

Raw sex appeal aside, there is one thing that’s a slight turn off about the boots – the price. With the ankle cuties and ankle boots priced at $400L and $600L respectively, and the knee boots coming in at $800L, they are priced above ‘market average’, but not ridiculously so. I’m sure I’ll be lynched for saying this, but I do prefer the cut of the BB boots to the new Stiletto Moody knee boots, but I’m content to mark that up to personal preference. Besides, the BB knee boots are still $600L cheaper and they have one very potent selling point over many other in their class – they have a built in texture change menu for the heels, soles and chains with fourteen different options to choose from. They also have an inbuilt AO and heel clicks, which I personally will never use but I know some people love. And while I’m not generally a fan of resizer scripts over mod, the resizers in the knee boots were easy peasy to use and worked really well.

All in all, while the price is a bit of a mood killer, these boots are so gorgeous that you must have at least one pair in your closet. Be it the black kneeboots that’ll go with everything or the electric blue to add some spice to your life, these boots are killers that’re gonna get a whole lot of wear from at least two bloggers, you can bet your booty!
